BFP Conducts Fire Drill at Work

TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE – The Bureau of Fire Protection conducted a fire drill and orientation for the NAPOLCOM Regional Office 8 personnel on November 12, 2021.

The activity aims to orient the Regional Office’s personnel on the proper procedures to be undertaken in the event of an actual fire, as part of its disaster risk reduction and management plan.

SFO2 Dulcebeth Villafor and FO3 Rowena Bulawan of BFP 8 covered topics on the things to do before, during and after a fire; the elements of fire; the methods of rescue and transfer; the classes of fire; and the proper use of fire extinguishers and its different types. SINSP Vic Leonel Macasil, Acting City Fire Director, likewise stressed the importance of fire prevention and literacy in view of the rising fire incidents in the City of Tacloban.

To demonstrate methods of rescue and transfer, NAPOLCOM staff were tasked to play the roles of injured victims and rescuers doing the various one-man and two-man carries.

The program is only the first step in improving the Regional Office’s safety and disaster resiliency. Moving forward, an Emergency Response Team will be created for disaster preparedness.
